Family Law
Relationships can break down over time and as family lawyers, we understand that. Our aim is to assist you in the most cost effective and timely way possible to help you reach a place of safety and certainty so you can then move on with your life. Often parties can separate in an amicable way and simply retain us to document their divorce, property settlement or parenting arrangements in a way that is binding into the future.
Our extensive experience in family law matters also means we are the first to accept that for a wide range of reasons, an amicable separation does not always take place and family law issues in relation to property, children, child support or spousal maintenance might need to be referred to the Family Court of Australia or Federal Circuit Court of Australia for determination.
We have seen that there can be a significant power imbalance between parties to family law proceedings which may exacerbate the conflict to the point that the Court is required to intervene to bring calm. Such power imbalances can also create a situation whereby one party continues to act so unreasonably the other party is left with little option other than to turn to the Court to achieve assistance in bringing about a resolution.
If you find yourself in this situation, we will continually reality test both the strengths and weaknesses of your case at each stage of the case to ensure that you remain fully informed and in control of your family law matter allowing you to make the best tactical and commercial decisions for you and your family.
