Maryborough's Winter Festivals

Maryborough has a number or famous festivals and events which take place in the winter months each year within the Maryborough Heritage Portside Precinct. These events kick off in Maryborough in June with the Famous Maryborough Relish Food and Wine Festival. Maryborough Streets close and patron’s travel from all over Queensland drawing a crowd of thousands from Maryborough, Hervey Bay, Bundaberg, Gympie and beyond.

Maryborough Streets around the Portside Precinct were closed again for a weekend this year in the month of July to hold The National Championships of the Ancient and Honourable Guild of Australian Town Criers in Maryborough’s Queens Park. On the following day, the 15 year anniversary of the Mary Poppins Festival was held right here in the Maryborough Portside Precinct and Queens Park.

The Maryborough Mary Poppins Festival boasts a number of performances, exhibitions and a wide range of events including the nanny race, the chimney sweep challenge, costume challenge and the grand parade. The festival also commemorated 150 years of the first steam train being built right here in Maryborough.

Both of these events celebrate Maryborough’s rich history and are an excellent opportunity to bring the Maryborough and Fraser Coast/Wide Bay community together in the beautiful Maryborough heritage Portside Precinct and Queens Park.
