Domestic & Family Violence Prevention Month

May is Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month. Over the last decade, I have acted for countless people involved in family law conflicts (property settlement and parenting disputes) who have also experienced or been exposed to domestic violence. I have first hand seen the devastating effect this can have on peoples every day lives.

Domestic violence is often perpetrated behind “closed doors” and Domestic and Family Violence prevention month is aimed at bringing these issues out into the light.

There are multiple events which people can participate in across the Wide Bay including:-

1. Gayndah - Walk for Awareness, 16 May, 7:15am start, Golden Orange Stairs;

2. Gympie - Lantern Walk, 23 May, 5:00pm start, Lake Alford (Gympie Duckponds);

3. Bundaberg - Walk for Awareness, 24 May, 7:15am start, Bywash Park, Flint Street.

These events are all aimed at bringing community awareness to issues surrounding Domestic Violence and to send a clear message that it will not be tolerated.
